Service to those in need
continues to be an
integral mission of the church. We need to be on the lookout for creative ways to build up
rather than destroy. One way is to put our time, talent and resources at the service of
our parish.
At St. Joan of Arc the poor and vulnerable are served through
a variety of programs which are listed in the table below.

To extend Christian compassion to our brothers and sisters in Christ who are experiencing the loss of a loved one. The Bereavement Hospitality Ministry consists of men and women who offer to provide refreshments for the family and friends of the deceased on the day of the funeral. This hospitality may be arranged in the church hall, the home of the family, or a place of their choice.

This ministry is based on the Scripture story of Mary's visit to Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-45.) Our focus includes special concern for the babies and young children of the women that we visit. Mary's visit created excitement not only for Elizabeth but also for the child in her womb.

Parish Nursing is a ministry that combines the art of nursing the person as a whole--body-mind-spirit--with the healing ministry taught by Jesus. The Parish Nurse works with the members of the congregation to promote health and wellness, reaching out with support during illness, and provides educational opportunities on health matters for the congregation. We hold blood pressure screenings the first weekend of each month after each of the masses.
