This ministry is based on the Scripture story of Mary's visit to Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-45.) Our focus includes special concern for the babies and young children of the women that we visit. Mary's visit created excitement not only for Elizabeth but also for the child in her womb.
The purpose of this ministry is to affirm, support, encourage, and assist in response to the needs of women during the childbearing years. Today many women feel isolated from other women in their families, neighborhoods, and churches. In the past, the presence, intimacy, and support needed during the childbearing years were found in the structures of family, neighborhood, and church. The wisdom of sharing stories about the joys and trials of childhood is still needed. By sharing their stories and experiences, Elizabeth Ministers serve one another in an atmosphere of faith, love, and hope. They are a link with the broader church in providing a sense of connectedness. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry please call the parish office and leave your name and number. An Elizabeth Minister will call you. Contact: Patricia Sergi 410-893-1937 |
