In the Classroom: Kindergarten
Welcome to Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten Program is a developmentally appropriate, child-centered program that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social-emotional growth through the integration of school, family and faith. Development of the whole child is our goal!

The Math curriculum meets NCTM Standards promoting effective lessons in sorting and classifying, exploring patterns, exploring numbers 0-20, measurement, plane shapes and fractions, time and money, comparing larger numbers and beginning addition and subtraction. The use of manipulatives and varied teaching styles promote student proficiency of each concept taught. Engaging students in cooperative groups as well as individual shared activities, provide students with the time to interact and learn from each other!

Themes are used to integrate subject areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Religion. We provide a language-rich, multi-sensory approach actively engaging each child .Language Arts involves phonics, sight word recognition skills, listening to literature, discussion and understanding the story, journal writing and independent writing, beginning reader books, and use of predictable text, charts, nursery rhymes, and songs. Religion is taught based on the Archdiocese of Baltimore curriculum.

Religion is an integral part of our everyday involvement with each other and outreach projects we participate in throughout the school year! We develop our love and service for each other, by following Christ example, strengthening our faith along the way!

Computer skills are enhanced using varied programs such as Kid Pix, Starfall, Island Adventure and Ocean Adventure, MS Paint and MS Word. Special Class Areas include Spanish, Library, Physical Education, Art and Music.
