March Happenings
February was a short but snow filled month. We celebrated the 100th day, and parent day! The children enjoyed showing off what they can do.
March begins Read Across America month. Would you like to come in as a guest reader? Pleas let me know.

March 22rd-31st Standardized Testing
First grade will be involved in the standardized testing this year. Make sure your child has a good night sleep, and a good breakfast each day. Also try to arrive on time to school.

Curriculum News
Here's what's coming up in different curriculum areas for the month of March:
Religion:
Please keep practicing the Lord's Prayer and the Hail Mary. We will be learning about Lent and starting Unit 4: The Holy Spirit.
Math:
Continue practicing math facts. We will continue to do timed test. This month we will learn ordinal numbers. Practice reading and using them at home. We will compare 2 digit numbers using greater than, less than and equal to. We will begin time and money.
Language Arts:
We will be completing Unit 4: Let's Find Out. Continue to read orally each night. This will help your child gain fluency. We complete the long vowels in phonics. We will learn about adjectives in grammar.
Computer:
We are working on a new reading/ writing project. We will continue to use games and web sites to enrich what we are learning in the classroom.
Science /Social Studies:
We will continue learning about our bodies with a focus on the 5 senses.
We have been learning about President Washington and Lincoln. We will continue to learn about maps. |
