Monthly Happenings
Hello everyone and happy May. The children are getting very excited as the end of the year approaches. Please remind them that we must still follow our classroom and school rules. As the weather gets nicer and children want to be outside please be sure they are still completing homework neatly.
.I hope you enjoyed the "Biographies" the children wrote in April. We also completed some wonderful spring poems. These are currently displayed in the hall. Also hanging outside the classroom is a beautiful rainforest liana vine that the children made for Earth Day with their middle school buddies
Dates to Remember: Here are some important dates to remember in May:
May 6th: bake sale
May 11th: school liturgy
May 14th: Fine Arts Celebration 1:00
May 24th Field Day
May 28th: no school for students
May 31st Memorial Day no school

Thanks for all the tissues, Clorox wipes, and quart size zip lock baggies you sent last month. Hopefully this will carry us to the end of the year.

Curriculum News
Here's what's coming up in different curriculum areas for the month of May:
Religion:
We will focus on the Holy Spirit. We will also begin our Family Life Unit.
Math:
We will begin Chapter 16 on adding subtracting to 12. Keep practicing facts each night. We will continue to have timed test.
Language Arts:
We will continue to discuss character, plot and setting for each story. Continue to practice oral reading and vocabulary each night. We will complete blends and digraphs in phonics and introducing synonyms in grammar.
Computer: We are continuing to use computer programs and internet sites to enhance our classroom learning.
Science:
We will continue to learn about how things move.
Social Studies:
We will learn about the flag. This will be the final component of our patriot program. |
